Layout-Problem with Bootstrap

Layout-Problem with Bootstrap was created by Julian Wolf
There seems to be a bootstrap-problem with Kneat on my page.
When I disable Bootstrap in Kunena, everything works fine but the layout of Kunena is broken. As soon as I activate bootstrap, the menu and some fonts of the mainpage are broken.

Here some images:

Hello Julian,

I examined your site and the problem is the different version of Bootstap.
JSN Megazine 2 is based on Bootstrap 3 and uses Font Awesome 4.4 ( proof link ) while Kneat is based on Bootstrap 2 and uses Font Awesome 5.x.
It might cause some issues .

However, from the first look, I can see an issue icons in the menu.
Is there an update of JSN Megazine 2 with the latest version of FontAwesome 5.4 or 5.5 instead of 4.4?
Probably, it might be easier to fix menu styles in Joomla template since Kunena template has A LOT of layouts where FA is used.

Hi Eugene,

thank you for the quick answer. Unfortunatelly, I personally have no real experiance with FA or Bootstrap, that´s why I rely on premade templates. So please excuse if some of my questions seem a little bit stupid. ;)

About Bootstrap, I guess the higher number is the "higher" developement. So when Megazine is based on Bootstrap 3 and Kneat on Bootstrap 2, I don´t think it would work to convince Joomlashine to switch back to Bootstrap 2. Are all of your templates based on Bootstrap 2? Do you plan to upgrade them to Bootstrap 3?

With FA it´s the opposide, so I will ask Joomlashine about FA. ;)

PS: Would you adjust Kneat for Bootstrap 3 and FA 4.4 (as an option) as a paid customization? If yes, what would be the price? ;)

Hi Julian,

Yes, this is a problem since there are a lot of different frameworks used by template providers:
- BS2, BS3, and BS4 now
- Uikit2, Uikit3
and etc.
Moreover, 3rd party extensions use frameworks too (extension template), so it is a standard situation when you buy a Joomla template and there might be an incompatibility with the 3rd party extension.

Well, we are planning to adapt Kunena templates to Bootstrap 4 next year. It is a huge work. We cannot talk about production time now, so just watch for our news. ;-)

Let's return to your problem.
From the first look, the only serious problem now is menu icons. I recommend loading the latest version of FA. Please ask template developer about details. I would give a try and change a line in the code to load FA 5.x instead of FA4 and check out the result. Maybe it will help. Also, maybe you will need to change classes for icons.
